Natural Family Photos on Strandhill’s Dunes, Sligo

A Summer Family Photoshoot in Strandhill, Sligo

Summer in Ireland doesn’t always mean sunshine. This family photoshoot in Strandhill, Sligo, took place on a cloudy and windy day, but that’s part of the charm of photographing families outdoors in Ireland.

We spent some time among the sandy dunes with two parents and their one-year-old little one. I always try to capture a few traditional family portraits, where everyone looks towards the camera, but most of the session is about letting things happen naturally.

I love capturing the little moments in between — a smile, a cuddle, a playful interaction or simply the way parents connect with their child. These are often the photographs that mean the most over time.

My approach to family photography in Sligo is relaxed and documentary-inspired, with minimal posing and plenty of room for genuine moments. Even on a cloudy, windy summer day, Strandhill provides a beautiful setting for natural family photographs.

If you’re looking for a relaxed family photoshoot in Sligo, I’d love to help you capture your family just as you are.
