A Beautiful Wedding at Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway, Sligo
This beautiful wedding at Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway in Leitrim was full of laughter, genuine emotion and plenty of unforgettable moments.
The day began with the bride and groom getting ready in two neighbouring lodges, which made it easy for me to move between them and capture the morning as it naturally unfolded. There was no rush to pose for the camera — just the excitement, nerves and little moments that make getting ready such a special part of a wedding day.
Before the ceremony, the couple had planned a first look outside the groom’s lodge. It was a lovely, quiet moment for the two of them before the day really got going. We then took a few family photographs and a handful of portraits before heading over to the barn for the ceremony.
The ceremony was filled with laughter, happiness and plenty of emotion. Afterward came the hugs, congratulations and all those spontaneous moments between the couple and their family and friends.
Before the speeches, everyone had some time to relax in The Cedaroo, chatting, enjoying something cold on what turned out to be a wonderfully warm day. I simply wandered among the guests, photographing the conversations, laughter and little moments happening naturally around me.
The speeches brought plenty more emotion and laughter. Once they were finished, I took the couple away for a short portrait session, making the most of the beautiful evening light. It was only a few minutes, but the light was absolutely worth taking advantage of.
The couple then made their official entrance into the barn, where the wedding meal began. Between courses there were games, plenty of fun and even a Taiko drumming performance by the bride and some of her friends.
And eventually, as every great wedding should, the evening ended with some seriously energetic dancing.
It was a relaxed, joyful and wonderfully personal Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway wedding, and a pleasure to photograph from the quiet morning preparations right through to the packed dance floor.
